On the afternoon of the 16th, South Korean short-track speed skating Olympic champion Shen Xixi was sexually assaulted by former coach Jo Jae-Bum in the third trial in South Korea's Suwon District Court.
According to South Korea’s “Dong-A Ilbo” report, at the scene of the trial, the prosecutor said, “The defendant Zhao Jae-fan raped the victim Shen Xixi dozens of times, and the victim hopes that Zhao Jae-fan will be severely punished.” He also asked the judge to imprison him for 20 years.
In the last trial, Shen Xixi, who appeared in court as a witness, said in tears in the courtroom: "I still have to go to the hospital and take medicine. The defendant can admit the crime. Why not admit it?"
Zhao Zaifan made a final defense and statement at today’s court hearing. He said: “I accept the accusation of beating and insulting Shen Xixi, and I have also reflected on these misconduct.” However, Zhao Zaifan denied the allegations of sexual crimes against him. Just like the previous trial.
The trial lasted for about an hour and a half. Shen Xixi did not show up, and the trial was not publicly heard to protect the victims.
From August 2014 to December 2017, Jae-Bum Cho was accused of sexually assaulting or assaulting Shen Xixi 30 times in 7 locations including Taineung, Jincheon Player Village and the skating rink of the National Sports University of Korea. The prosecution sued Zhao Jae Fan for violating South Korea’s "Child and Youth Sexual Protection Act" because Shen Xixi was not yet 17 years old.
According to Korean media reports, the judgment date for this case is tentatively scheduled for November 26.
