o May 19– Band Parent Board Meeting to plan Incoming/Returning ’10 – ’11 Band Meeting
o May 22 – Graduation 4:00 PM Ocean Center – Band meets at DHS at 1:00. Will return to school around 7:00. Students should wear nice dress clothes.
o May 25 – Incoming/Returning ’10 – ’11 Band Student/Parent Meeting
· Band Banquet – Tickets $20.00 – Stetson Room in Carlton Union Building – Meat/Pasta Plate
RSVP needed by April 30th. Reservation form will be emailed and available in the band room.

Item 4: New Business
· Incoming/Returning ’10 – ’11 Band Student/Parent Meeting – May 25th – 7:00 pm – IMPORTANT meeting for all ’10-’11 Band students/parents – Plan to introduce new director and discuss important events for the coming year. Forms needed for all students will be available. Band Parent Board Officers will meet to plan this meeting on May 19th at 7:00 pm.
Item 5: Other Business
· Discussion about job descriptions for Band Parent Board Officers and Band By-laws – Mr. Shistle suggested that Board should wait to meet with new director and discuss procedures and workings of the Band Parent Association.

o Stetson Concert
o State Solo and Ensemble – 17 Entries – all received a Superior or Excellent Rating!

DeLand High School Band Parents Association Meeting Minutes 3/16/2010 Item 1: Welcome, Introduction of Guests, Members Present Item 2: Reading of the previous minutes- available on the website Item 3: Committee Reports: Treasurer Report – Usable funds $301.56 – car wash funds not included – received a generous donation from a local lawyer to support our general band program. Ways and Means – Discount Card Sale Day – will be selling at Lowe’s, Publix and Downtown DeLand – 9:00 - 1:00 – students can volunteer for a 2 hour shift. Will need 8 parent volunteers. Options? -= 71 people (15 over for one bus) – Russ Hibbard will check into getting an activity bus so that we will only have to charter one bus. · Fundraising Ideas? Rummage Sale? Direct Solicitation Letter Coffee Sale Pampered Chef Sale Item 5: Other Business FBA – intend on continuing the sponsoring of this event – will discuss more fully at April meeting. Item 6: For the Good of the Order Concert MPA Results Symphonic Band – 1’s on stage – 2 in sight reading – overall 1 Concert Band – 3’s on stage – 2 in sight reading – programming caused Concert Band to play at the same time as much older band students. DeLand High School Band Parents Association Meeting Minutes 2/16/2010 Item 1: Welcome, Introduction of Guests – Intern Mr. Haynicz – Stetson University, trombone Item 2: Reading of the previous minutes – approved as posted online Item 3: Committee Reports: Treasurer Report – report distributed as of 2/10 FBA Report – after paying an outstanding fee to city our profit was $1,865.96 not including revenue from ad sales. Some discussion followed about reducing overhead for future years (donations of food, et al.)
Ways and Means – open to suggestions for raising funds. Russ Hibbard would like to get an early start for next year’s discount card. Jan Roeder in charge of decorating. · Graduation – May 22, 4:00 pm Item 4: New Business · Officer Elections for Next Year – naming of willing candidates, those positions with multiple names will be voted on at next meeting – Vacant positions for next year – President, Vice President, Secretary, Communication, Volunteer, Community Liaison. Possible addition of a position of Field Parent to attend to students who become sick during band camp/marching practice, etc. Discussed responsibilities of offices. Hope to present a slate for voting at the next Band Parent meeting. Will sent out an email list of job descriptions seeking nominations for positions. Phyllis Williams expressed interest in the Communications position · Fundraising for the current year – we are in dire need of a successful fundraiser that we can have nearing the end of the year (in addition to collecting overdue band fees), Car Wash – Auto Zone, Victoria Park Newsletter Distribution, Band Discount Cards, · Fundraising ideas/initiatives for next year – revisit direct solicitation letter/brochure effectiveness, marching MPA effectiveness, other options to consider and begin planning – Concerts for special holidays, Century Club interested in supporting band, Banner ads for website, · End-of-the-year fun trip – a “fun day” with students at a theme park (May 15?). This could be an incentive for students to participate in a final fundraiser??? (this item was tabled) · State Solo and Ensemble - $7 per student in ensemble, $14 per solo.
